After being sent to the tail of the field as penalty for crewmembers going over the wall too soon, Kennedy was forced to rally from the back of the pack and endure an 84-lap green-flag run to earn his sixth top 10 of the season and receive Sunoco Rookie of the Race honors for the eighth time in 2014.

Ben Kennedy on Talladega Superspeedway:
“I’ve never raced at Talladega Superspeedway, but I already know that it’s going to be a wild one. Something crazy always happens there. We ran well in Daytona earlier this year and we’re bringing back the same truck, but I know Talladega can be a whole different animal. The key is racing smart so that you can make it to the last lap, and then it’s game on until you cross the finish line.”

News and Notes

Rubbin’ is Racin’…After a two-week break from the track, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) heads to the infamous Talladega Superspeedway for an afternoon of action-packed racing with Tayler Malsam behind the wheel of the No. 32 Outerwall Chevrolet Silverado. In his one previous NCWTS start at the 2.66-mile superspeedway, Malsam got caught in the “big one” and was forced to retire early from the 94-lap race. This time around, Malsam and his Turner Scott Motorsports (TSM) team have one goal, and that’s to finish strong.

Let’s Go…Back on board at Talladega, the No. 32 will sport the colors of Outerwall for the eighth of 12 races this year. Making his third-career NCWTS start at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Malsam and the No. 32 Outerwall team had impressive speed throughout the action-packed one-day show, allowing Malsam to score a career-best qualifying position (third) as well as a career-best LVMS finish (ninth) at the 1.5-mile track.

Come On By…Be sure to meet Malsam and his NCWTS competitors at the autograph session on Friday afternoon in the concourse area behind OV Hill South Grandstand Sections D&E from 2:30-3:30 p.m. local time.

Watch and Listen...Don’t miss the action as the NCWTS heads to Talladega Superspeedway for an afternoon of drafting, bumping and high-speed racing. The Fred’s 250 can be seen live on Saturday, October 18 beginning at 12:30 p.m. EDT on FOX and can be heard live on MRN Radio as well as SiriusXM Satellite Radio, channel 90.

Tayler Malsam on racing at Talladega Superspeedway:
“I have mixed feelings about racing at Talladega again. I’ve run there once in the Truck Series and once in the Nationwide Series, and both times I ended up falling out of the race early. I like this track though; its history makes it a lot of fun to race. I plan to lean on my crew chief [Mike] Hillman Jr. a lot this weekend since he has a lot of experience at this track. I just want to put on a great show for the fans and be out there when the checkered flag waves.”
